Palace youngster set for Old Trafford switch.
Manchester United have beaten Premier League rivals Tottenham and Arsenal to the signing of England prodigy Wilfried Zaha, reports the Daily Mirror.
Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson is understood to be desperate to land the 20-year-old Crystal Palace winger and the esteemed tabloid claims that the Scot has ‘pulled out all the stops’ to get his man.
Fergie is reportedly prepared to loan Zaha back to the South London club for the remainder of the season – a feasible option given United currently boast three talented right-wingers in Nani, Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young.
Spurs, meanwhile, would require Zaha to go straight into the first-team squad as competition and cover for Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale.
Arsenal, too, would love the youngster to join this month, particularly if Theo Walcott is going to spend most of his time up-front.
For promotion-pushing Palace, it’s not hard to see why United’s proposal is the most attractive and the Premier League leaders are apparently willing to offer £8m plus add-ons and the promise of further players on loan this season.
Zaha’s arrival at Old Trafford next summer would surely spell the end for Nani and the 25-year-old is interesting Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham.
The Portugal international has not received a lot of attention this season but he could be set for a transfer saga of his own in six months time.
