The Red Devils want a quality new signing upfront as the likes of Falcao and Robin van Persie struggle to impress this season, and Cavani now looks like being their top target in a £50m move.
Falcao is on loan at Old Trafford this season but has not yet impressed Louis van Gaal and looks worryingly injury prone after a series of niggling fitness problems.
Cavani could prove a good alternative, though he would no doubt be expensive and is also thought to be a target for Arsenal and Liverpool.
