Manchester United make sensational late move to sign Real Madrid midfielder for €40 million.
Manchester United have made a late bid to sign Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, according to COPE radio and reported by Spanish publication Marca.
The offer was immediately rejected by Real Madrid, who have no intention of losing another presence in the middle of the park, having already had Mesut Ozil and Kaka leave the club, and Xabi Alonso ruled out for the next three months.
Man Utd’s struggles to find a player to boost their midfield have been well documented, with moves for Cesc Fabregas and Thiago Alcantara unable to be agreed with Barcelona, and Ander Herrera of Athletic Bilbao and Marouane Fellaini have appeared to be late makeweight signings – far from the first choice.
The attempted bid for Khedira would be far from a poor option in central midfield, but Manchester United boss David Moyes has had all summer to attempt to identify a suitable target, and there are concerns that the Red Devils have left it all too late.
