Do the giant Belgian and mercurial Japanese both deserve consistent game time in the United squad?
In goal, De Gea starts, with Rafael and Patrice Evra occupying the fullback slots.
In defence Nemanja Vidic should partner the ever improving Phil Jones, with Rio Ferdinand and Jonny Evans on the bench as rotation options.
Michael Carrick is an automatic starter in the anchorman role, while Marouane Fellaini should be given the chance to develop into the player he was at Everton alongside him. Ryan Giggs is 40-years-old, and Tom Cleverley doesn’t have the physical stature or presence of Fellaini.
Up top, obviously Wayne Rooney should start with Robin Van Persie. Antonio Valencia’s pace down the right make him a clever choice, while Shinji Kagawa can provide the guile from the left, with Danny Welbeck as a sub option.
