The retired midfielder sees a positive future for Moyes at United.
Former Manchester United and Real Madrid superstar David Beckham has expressed the belief that the Red Devils will win the Premier League under David Moyes and that Wayne Rooney should not leave the club.
Beckham was a product of the United youth academy and spent 10 years in the first team at Old Trafford, winning nine major trophies, before going onto play for Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.
The 38-year-old retired from football this summer, but still keeps a close eye on his boyhood club and thinks that Moyes is the right man to bring success.
“Jose [Mourinho at Chelsea] is back and that’s exciting. It’s going to be interesting, but I still think United will win the league,” the former England captain was quoted in the Sun.
“It was always going to be difficult job for whoever succeeded Sir Alex because of what the manager has brought to Manchester United, what he has brought to the game.
“But the same players are there and I’m sure a few more will be added over the next few weeks. Being manager of Man United is a great job.”
Unfortunately one of those players will not be long-term target Thiago Alcantara of Barcelona, who decided to rejoin former coach Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich rather than switch to England.
In fact since taking the reigns from Sir Alex Ferguson, Moyes has bought in just one new face in Uruguayan youngster Guillermo Varela.
However, with a month-and-a-half still left in the transfer window there is plenty of time for United to acquire some big names, with Barca’s Cesc Fabregas still being widely linked with a return to the Premier League.
Beckham also thinks the Red Devils should hold onto one of their biggest current stars in Rooney, with the 27-year-old being strongly linked with a departure from the club this summer.
“I hope he stays because Wayne is such a talented player and I see him as a Manchester United player,” the ex-United man said.
“Obviously that’ll be his decision and his decision only. As a Man United fan, I want to see the best players at the club and I hope he stays.”
