England man has enjoyed a fine season for the champions elect.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says that he expects veteran defender Rio Ferdinand to shortly put pen to paper on a new contract to remain at Old Trafford next season, reports the Daily Star.
The England international’s current United deal expires at the end of next month, with a new one-year rolling contract on the table for the defender to sign.
However, the 34-year-old also has reported lucrative offers from the likes of Major League Soccer, Asia and Qatar to weigh up before he commits himself to one more season with the Red Devils.
Ferdinand, much to many people’s surprise, has enjoyed an injury-free campaign, playing a key role as United have marched towards a record 13th Premier League title, and 20th overall.
The centre back, who has been riddled with back complaints for the last few years that have greatly restricted the amount of games that he has been able to play for the club, has featured in 25 Premier League matches for United this season, and 31 appearances across all competitions.
