Fernandinho vs Mesut Ozil
With Flamini and Arteta providing the cover, Arsenal’s record signing Mesut Ozil will again be tasked with being the league leaders’ creator-in-chief.
The German has been a revelation since joining Arsenal from Real Madrid, lifting the players around him and bagging four goals and six assists in just 12 Premier League matches.
But in at least two matches – against Borussia Dortmund at the Emirates in October and the 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford the following month – a closely marked Ozil has failed to influence the game, suggesting that denying him space can be effective.
This job will fall to Man City’s big money summer signing – £38m man Fernandinho. The bustling 28-year-old loves to tackle and harry and will be key in cutting out Ozil’s dangerous passes forward.
