Champions linked with blockbuster bid.
Manchester City could be set to break the British transfer record after being quoted a staggering £60m asking price for Everton youngster Ross Barkley, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The England international, 20, is widely regarded as one of the best young talents in the Premier League at the moment, and has also been linked strongly with Chelsea in recent times.
It remains to be seen if City will be ready to fork out such a huge amount for a relatively unproven player, but the club are known to be keen on signing him as a long-term replacement for Yaya Toure.
Juventus starlet Paul Pogba is also an option, though he may end up costing a similar amount to the highly-rated Barkley.
