City scouts watched Lennon against United this weekend.
Manchester City scouts were in attendance at White Hart Lane on Sunday to watch Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon, fanatix has learnt.
The Premier League Champions have added Lennon to their summer wish-list and could even test Spurs’ resolve with a bid for the speedy right-sider before the end of January.
The 25-year-old England international is one of Spurs longest serving players, having joined from Leeds for just £1m in 2005.
The flying forward is enjoying the form of his life under boss Andre Villas-Boas and has started every one of Spurs’ 23 Premier League games this season, contributing three goals and six assists.
Lennon was again crucial in the 1-1 draw with Man United on Sunday, terrorising Patrice Evra and crossing for Clint Dempsey to scramble home a last minute equaliser.
Man City boss Roberto Mancini has been unimpressed with summer signing Scott Sinclair, who has made just two league appearances so far this term, and is keen to add more pace and width to his City squad.
The Italian believes that Lennon’s speed and directness will add a new threat to his stylish side but is aware that the player signed a new four-year deal in September and will not come cheap.
Villas-Boas has been full of praise for Lennon in recent months and does not want to lose the player but the Portuguese remains interested in Shakhtar’s Willian, who can play on either flank.
