City set sights on Lampard replacement.
Manchester City could make the surprise move to sign Barcelona’s veteran playmaker Xavi as a replacement for Frank Lampard if he leaves in January, according to Fichajes.com.
The Premier League champions have been linked with the experienced Spaniard in the past, and it is rumoured that he could look to leave the Nou Camp this winter after falling out of favour.
City could also be in need of a new signing in that part of the pitch, with loan star Lampard likely to return to parent club New York City FC in the middle of the season.
The 36-year-old has been in fine form at the Etihad Stadium, and could now be replaced by another ageing legend of the game.
