Benzema has struggled with injuries this season, however the French international has still managed to hit the back of the net 15 times in 28 La Liga appearances this season.
According to Metro, United have kept a keen eye on the 27-year-old but will face stiff competition from both Liverpool and Arsenal for his signature.
It is believed Benzema is now close to his maximum price and Real Madrid are looking to cash in on the former Lyon man.
The Red Devils will have to dig deep into its coffers to sign Benzema, with his asking price believed to be around £40m.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal are believed to be interested, but it remains to be seen if either club will be wanting to splash the cash on the injury-prone attacker.
Brendan Rodgers is in desperate need to bolster his attack with Daniel Sturridge set to miss the opening month of the season due to hip surgery.
The misfiring trio of Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini are all expected to leave the Reds in the summer.
