The Red Devils have been determined to bring Morgan Schneiderlin into the fold. Can they pull off the deal in 6 days?
Man United are closing in on a deal for Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin and could have the transfer complete by Monday.
According to the Metro, Man United manager Louis van Gaal expects to finalize the deal with Southampton for the 25-year-old French midfielder before Monday. Van Gaal is eager to bring Schneiderlin into the fold as quickly as possible with Man United’s pre-season tour beginning in the United States this month.
The Metro reported that Southampton are also hoping to get the deal done quickly so they can make room for his replacement.
“Everybody knows the situation of Morgan and if you can get a big move I can understand it,” Southampton manager Ronald Koeman said. “If there is any business then I hope it will be soon because it is best for the player, best for us and we have to think about ourselves if we sell the player.”
The final sale price for Schneiderlin will reportedly be £20 million – a full £10 million short of the reported asking rate for Southampton’s star midfielder.
A seven-year veteran with the Saints, Schneiderlin was voted the Southampton FC Fans’ Player of the Season in 2013 after putting up a career-high 5 league goals during the 2012-13 season.
