Gasol set to miss four to six weeks of action
After injuring his foot against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night, it has been confirmed that Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol is set for a spell on the sidelines.
“The result of the MRI scans shows that I have a torn fascia of my right foot. Tomorrow I’ll fly back to LA to see our team doctors,” Gasol confirmed on Twitter.

Despite the setback, the Lakers went on to win the game 92-83 at the Barclays Center, with Gasol contributing 15 points, four rebounds and two blocks. However, after complaining from soreness in the second-half, the Spaniard was forced to the locker room late in the fourth-quarter.
Having moved back into play-off contention in recent weeks and on a three-game winning streak, this latest injury will come as a huge blow for the Lakers who are already without the services of Dwight Howard.
Coach Mike D’Antoni is hopeful of seeing Howard return from his shoulder injury sooner rather later, but stressed that other players on the roster will have to step up as the pressure will undoubtedly fall on Kobe Bryant to score more heavily.
The Lakers are currently in the midst of a seven-game road trip, but will welcome back Metta World Peace from a one-game suspension for the clash with the Boston Celtics on Thursday night. The Celtics are dealing with similar injury issues, but are on a five-game winning streak of their own despite the loss of point-guard Rajon Rondo for the remainder of the season.
