John Aldridge doesn’t think Bale is fit to ties Suarez’s boots!
Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge reckons current Reds striker Luis Suarez is a better player than Gareth Bale, he wrote in a column for the Liverpool Echo.
Bale joined Real Madrid for a monstrous £85m fee this summer, while Suarez was the subject of multiple bids from Arsenal for his services.
Liverpool rejected all their advances however, and the striker has gone on to score six times in his first five games of the season.
“It’s no wonder the owners scoffed at that valuation (Arsenal’s £40m bid) because Suarez is worth more than double that,” said Aldridge
“Gareth Bale, who went from Tottenham to Real Madrid for £85million, is a quality player but he’s no Suarez.
“He’s worth more than Bale and Saturday’s phenomenal hat-trick against West Brom proved that.”
The Welsh winger won the Premier League Player of the Year award last term for his brilliant performances with Tottenham, but has so far struggled with his new La Liga club. Despite scoring on his debut, niggling injuries have kept Bale from finding his feet in Spain, and he has yet to score since.
Interestingly, Bale and Suarez could well be playing the same team this season if Madrid approach Liverpool for the Uruguayan’s services in January. Karim Benzema is out of favour, and could be offered to the Reds as part of a swap deal that would see Suarez eventually get his dream move to the Spanish capital.
