Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has discussed his brilliant attacking relationship with Englishman Daniel Sturridge in an exclusive interview with FourFourTwo.
The pair have been exceptional for the Reds this season, scoring 42 Premier League goals between them, firing Liverpool into second place in the table with ten games remaining.
As a result of their unbelievable form, the media has dubbed their combination ‘The SAS’, but Suarez reckons he’d be more suited to real life warfare than Sturridge!
“I’d say I am [more suited to the SAS]. I’m older and you always need experience in an army!” he joked.
“To be honest, though, with the two of us together, you wouldn’t go far wrong,” Saurez added, who is the strong favourite for the Premier League Player of the Year award this term.
“The best thing is that defences aren’t only looking at what Suarez is doing. We create space for each other, and for our team-mates to take advantage of. If we’re marked, then it means someone else isn’t,” continued the 27-year-old.
It appears though that the pair get on just as well off the pitch as they do on it.
“Daniel’s a great guy, always making me, Lucas and Philippe [Coutinho] laugh. There were lots of Brazilians at Chelsea so his Portuguese isn’t bad, actually. He should do well at the World Cup, because he already knows the language!”
After the pair finish this season with Liverpool, they are set to come up against each other in the World Cup, when England meet Uruguay in the second match of Group D.
