Reds told to compete for marquee signing.
Former Liverpool man Jason McAteer has urged his old club to join the running to sign Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus, according to the Daily Express.
The German international has also been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United in recent times, though Brendan Rodgers is thought to be one of his many admirers.
McAteer thinks Liverpool need a signing of that calibre, and hopes his old side will show ambition in pursuing the Dortmund ace despite his signing a new contract.
“I would love to see a Marco Reus,” he said.
“I know he has just signed a new contract but that would probably just push the pounds up when it comes to entering the market for him.”
