The Reds want Adriano to solve their left-back problem…

Barcelona’s 29-year-old Brazilian left-back Adriano has emerged as a potential summer target for Premier League high-flyers Liverpool, The Metro understands.
The Reds desperately need to strengthen the left side of defence this summer, with the back four occasionally letting down Liverpool’s brilliant attackers this season.
On loan Frenchman Aly Cissokho has not impressed due to his complete lack of technical ability, and is expected to return to Valencia when his temporary deal at Anfield expires. Jose Enrique rarely lets the team down, but his inability to remain fit (he’s only made five starts all season) means Brendan Rodgers badly needs another left-back.
While Jon Flanagan and Glen Johnson can cover the position, they are both more comfortable on the other flank.
As a result, Rodgers has earmarked Adriano as a potential option, and the Reds could lodge a £6m bid at the end of the season. He won his first cap for Brazil back in 2003, and has been used as a rotation option since joining Barcelona from Sevilla in 2010.
Like many Brazilian fullbacks, Adriano is more comfortable in the opposition half than he is in his own. He is very comfortable with the ball at his feet, and can pass, dribble and deliver dangerous balls into the box – but his defensive ability can be brought into question.
Rodgers likes his fullbacks to bomb forward though, and Adriano’s pace can get him out of trouble when he’s out of position defensively.
Adriano is used as a rotation option with Jordi Alba at Barcelona, and he’s actually earned 17 La Liga starts so far this term, bagging three goals as well.
If he were to arrive at Anfield, he would likely become a key member of Rodgers’ squad who are hoping to be playing Champions League football next term.
