Martin Skrtel could be close to ending his five year stay at Anfield…
Liverpool’s 28-year-old Slovakian centre-half Martin Skrtel is close to agreeing a permanent move to Napoli, respected Italian football journalist Tancredi Palmeri has claimed.
With Liverpool reportedly stepping up their pursuit of PSG’s French centre-half Mamadou Sakho, Skrtel has been deemed surplus to requirements at Anfield.
Brendan Rodgers prefers more technically gifted centre-backs who can begin attacks with passes out from the back, and Skrtel simply does not have that in his locker.
Skrtel will join Rafa Benitez at Napoli, the manager who brought him to Anfield back in 2008. The Spanish boss has already signed Pepe Reina from Liverpool on loan this summer, and looks set to raid his former club again.
Skrtel is close to agree personal terms with Napoli. After that, Napoli this week will try to find a deal with Liverpoool
