Reds winger targeted by Spanish giants.Real Madrid are reportedly targeting a summer bid for Liverpool youngster Raheem Sterling as concerns grow over the fitness of Cristiano Ronaldo, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 19-year-old has just enjoyed a superb season at Anfield after working his way into Brendan Rodgers’ first-team plans, linking up brilliantly with the likes of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge as the Reds came agonisingly close to winning the Premier League title.
Sterling was then in impressive form for England at this summer’s World Cup, despite their early exit, and could now be in line for a surprise move to the Bernabeu to fill the boots of star player Ronaldo.
The Portuguese winger has played a high number of games over the last few years after becoming a vitally important player for club and country, and Real are seemingly concerned about the prospect of burning him out.
Ronaldo has suffered an increase in injury problems of late, and Madrid want to bring in Sterling as cover this season, with the possibility that the former Manchester United man may play fewer games in the upcoming campaign.
