With Daniel Sturridge still out injured, and Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert, and Fabio Borini just not cutting it, Liverpool are badly in need of a prolific striker this winter.
21-year-old Alcacer has been lighting up La Liga over the last 18 months, and has been tipped to make a big money move away from his current club.
With his current deal running until the summer of 2016, he has so far refused to sign an extension. Rodgers will be hoping that Valencia will be looking to cash in on him now, rather than letting him get into the final year of his contract next season.
