Liverpool top the table with five games to spare following a crucial, crucial win away to West Ham. Here’s the players performed yesterday:
GK) Simon Mignolet – 6/10
Undeniably fouled for West Ham’s equaliser, Mignolet managed to brush himself off and keep his goal shut for the rest of the game.
DR) Glen Johnson – 5/10
Given a rough time in the first-half by Stewart Downing, who managed to get past him and cross from the byline on a number of occasions.
DC) Martin Skrtel – 7/10
Because of West Ham’s incredibly direct style of play, and the physical prowess of Andy Carroll up top, Liverpool’s centre-backs will have few harder afternoons in their final five matches. Both of them did very, very well.
DC) Mamadou Sakho – 7/10
Not only was he aerially excellent after being deployed solely to deal with Carroll, but he carried the ball up the pitch from left-back and passed slickly into his midfielders.
DL) Jon Flanagan – 6/10
Not his best afternoon of the season by any stretch, but he mostly did everything required of him with composure, even if his decision making was sometimes off.
