Jordan Henderson – 6
A quiet game for the midfielder, which is somewhat unusual considering how impressive the 23-year-old has been in recent weeks.
Steven Gerrard – 7
A fine display from the captain who operated more defensively than has been true in recent times and broke up the play brilliantly.
Philippe Coutinho – 6
Always has the ability to change a game with his talent, but the Brazilian failed to truly grab the initiative – although it was another promising game for the 21-year-old.
Raheem Sterling – 8
Was constantly lively down the right flank, linking up well with Luis Suarez for the opening goal and will have greatly impressed England manager Roy Hodgson.
