Rodgers considering £16m move for Catalan shot-stopper this summer.
Liverpool are lining up a sensational summer move to bring Barcelona’s highly-rated goalkeeper Victor Valdes to Anfield at the end of this season, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.
The Spain international is about to enter the final year of his present contact at Camp Nou and is currently in negotiations with the Catalans over a new deal, however, the 30-year-old is reportedly after parity with the other Spaniards in the Barca dressing-room, something the club appear unwilling to grant him.
All of which means that Barcelona would be receptive to offers in the region of £16 million for the shot-stopper this summer should no agreement be reached with Valdes between now and the end of the season.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has been closely monitoring the situation in Spain, especially as his own Spanish No 1 is also considering trying a new challenge come the summer, with reports recently indicating that Reds keeper Jose Manuel Reina looks like departing Anfield for the Emirates next campaign, a move that would leave a giant hole in the Merseysiders’ defence.
Whether Rodgers would be able to persuade the three-time Champions League winner to swap Camp Nou for Anfield though remains to be seen.
