Reds eyeing Schalke star, with Ince proving costly.
Liverpool want Schalke winger Jefferson Farfan to complete their new look front-line and will bid for the Peruvian this month, according to reports in Germany.
Farfan has been on fine form for the Bundesliga outfit this season, bagging four goals and as many assists in just 13 league starts.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers wants to add yet more width and pace to his Liverpool side but is struggling to agree a fee with Blackpool for youngster Tom Ince.
The Northern Irishman is unwilling to pay over the odds for the 20-year-old Englishman and will turn to Farfan if Blackpool do not lower their asking price this week.
Right-winger Farfan, who can also play on left or behind the striker, has frequently been linked with a move to the Premier League but the forward has been with Schalke since 2008 and appears happy at the Veltins Arena.
However, with the club languishing in seventh in the Bundesliga and in danger of missing out of European football next season, Liverpool are ready to test their resolve with a bid for the Peru international.
It is understood that Schalke have no interest in selling Farfan, 27, this month – particularly with Lewis Holtby likely to join Tottenham earlier than planned and a Champions League last-16 with Galatasaray to look forward to.
But Liverpool are hopeful that the lure of playing alongside Luis Suarez, Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge in a new-look front-line will tempt the former PSV player to consider a move to Anfield.
