Brendan Rodgers promises that his side will bounce back following disappointing Premier League draw…
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers knows that his side didn’t perform at their best against Aston Villa at the weekend, but has assured supporters they will bounce back against the Toffees, ITV Sport reports.
The Reds had to come from 2-0 to secure a draw against Villa at Anfield on Saturday, and played particularly poorly in the first-half.
The upcoming Premier League clash with bitter rivals Everton on January 28 could be crucial to see which side finishes in the top four, as the Toffees could climb above their Merseyside neighbours should they beat West Brom this Monday evening.
Rodgers though, is confident that the Reds will re-find the form that has seen them score more goals than any other Premier League side bar Manchester City so far this season.
“He will know how I work and knows how my teams work,” Rodgers said on Everton boss Roberto Martinez, who managed Swansea before Rodgers himself took over in 2009.
“But he will know it will be a totally different game here for the derby.
“It wasn’t one of our better days (against Villa), but we’ve had many great games here. We’ll be ready for the derby game for sure.”
In December at Goodison Park, the two sides played out a thrilling 3-3 draw, and neutrals will hope for more of the same at the end of January.
