Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has insisted that his players are not showing enough so far this season to suggest that they are ‘untouchable’.
Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s Champions League commitments this week, the Portuguese tactician is disappointed with the inconsistency that they have shown so far this season, as reported by Sky Sports.
The reigning Premier League champions have won just two of their first seven games of the campaign, and were held to a disappointing 2-2 draw by Newcastle on Saturday evening.
Despite being presented with the opportunity to further close the gap on Manchester City who have now lost back-to-back league games, the Blues remain eight points adrift of top spot with Manchester United now leading the way.
As a result, Mourinho has been left frustrated that his side haven’t been able to build on wins over Arsenal and Maccabi Tel Aviv, and it remains to be seen whether or not he is able to break them out of their current slump on a more permanent basis.
The 52-year-old faces former club Porto in the Champions League on Tuesday night, and he will be desperate for a positive result to provide his side with a boost ahead of their game against Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
