Portuguese expected to shortly be confirmed as the new Blues trainer.
On-loan Real Madrid midfield player Michael Essien will return to parent club Chelsea once the Liga season draws to a close this weekend, says the Sun.
The Ghana international has been at the Santiago Bernabeu on a season-long loan from west London after being deemed surplus to requirements by previous Chelsea head coach Roberto Di Matteo.
However, with current Madrid boss Jose Mourinho expected to shortly be confirmed as the new head coach of the Uefa Europa League winners, the 30-year-old is set to follow the Portuguese back to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Essien, whose contract with Chelsea runs until 30 June 2015, has enjoyed an up-and-down time of it in the Spanish capital under the self-styled ‘Special One’, featuring in only 20 Liga contests, and just 34 overall in all competitions for Los Blancos to date in this campaign, scoring one goal in the process.
But the versatile player is sure to be used more by ‘Mou’, though, when he makes his long-awaited comeback to the Premier League next season.
