Montella claims he would be happy to have Lampard at Fiorentina.
Vincenzo Montella has claimed he would be happy to coach Frank Lampard according to Tuttosport.
The Fiorentina boss was just the latest person to give their opinion on the Lampard contract saga, insisting he would be happy for the England man to join him at the Viola.
The Tuscany side are one of a number of Italian clubs, including Inter Milan, Juventus and Lazio, to be linked with the player’s signature in recent weeks.
Montella’s team has been performing well this season, currently sitting in 5th spot in Serie A, but it remains to be seen whether Lampard would be interested in joining a club in Europe who are not competing in the Champions League.
Speculation has been rife in Italy over a Lampard transfer, ever since the midfielder’s agent, Steve Kutner, confirmed last week that Chelsea have told his client he will not be offered a new contract.
While the England international is not getting any younger at the age of 34, the news has caused bewilderment amongst players, pundits and fans alike, with many believing Lampard still has something offer.
It appears Chelsea are set on rebuilding their squad however, with reports emerging over the weekend of the club pursuing talks over a move for Luka Modric.
