Brazil playmaker also states that the Englishman is one of the best players in the world.
FC Barcelona superstar Neymar has claimed that it would be a “dream” to play alongside Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney at Camp Nou next season, according to reports in the Sunday Sun.
The in-demand England international has been the subject of much speculation of late linking the striker with a possible big-money move away from Old Trafford when the summer transfer window finally reopens for business on July 1.
The 27-year-old was reported to have asked for a transfer away from the north west towards the climax of the previous campaign, although the player himself has strenuously denied those stories, insisting that he simply wanted assurances about how much game time he would get at the club next season.
However, in light of recent rumours linking Rooney with a possible move to Catalonia next season, Neymar has spoken about what a joy it would be to team up in attack with a player who has netted 197 goals in only 400 matches in all competitions since joining the Premier League giants from Everton in the summer of 2004.
“It does not surprise me at all that Barcelona is Wayne Rooney’s first choice – we are most players’ first choice,” said Neymar.
“The style of football we play and the level of the players we have – we are the perfect club for the top players to join.
“I have met Wayne on a few occasions and he seems a good guy, but importantly he is one of the players I admire most in the world.
“Wayne is one of the most gifted and technical players in the world.
“Of course he would improve Barcelona – he would improve any club in Europe.
“And on a personal level it would be a dream to play with him.”
