The Miami Heat will look to extend their impressive start to the season with the Indiana Pacers visiting the AA Arena on Wednesday night.
These two teams have been involved in an intense rivalry in recent years, but a combination of trades and injuries have ensured that it will slightly regress this season with no LeBron James, Lance Stephenson or Paul George amongst others on show.
Indiana have been hit harder so far this season, as the loss of Stephenson and George has been followed by injuries to the likes of David West and George Hill which has left them severely short-handed.
As a result, they have slipped to 2-6 for the season and have lost all three road games so far ahead of their trip to Miami.
In contrast, the Heat have coped well without James as both Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade have stepped up to their form pre-2010, while the support cast has been influential.
Bosh in particular has caught the eye though, averaging 23.6 points and 10.3 rebounds per game so far this season and he will look to continue that fine form and help the Heat remain competitive in the Eastern Conference.
Currently 5-2 for the season, they have an opportunity to move level with the Chicago Bulls in second spot in the standings, but naturally it is still very early in the season and Luol Deng recently conceded that they “still have a lot to figure out”.
Nevertheless, the former Bulls star has fitted in well in his role of ‘replacing’ James, while Wade has stepped up and averaged 23.3 points while shooting 55.8 percent over his last three games.
Miami will certainly fancy their chances on Wednesday night against a depleted Pacers team looking to stay as competitive as possible until their stars begin to return.
