Wayne Rooney tells United squad he’s off to Stamford Bridge.
Wayne Rooney has told his Manchester United teammates he will be joining Chelsea, according to ESPN.
A source close to the England striker reportedly told the broadcaster that Rooney, 27, is convinced he is headed for Stamford Bridge and has informed his Old Trafford colleagues of his impending departure.
Chelsea have had two bids rejected for the former Everton man this summer, with Blues boss Jose Mourinho claiming it is Rooney or bust for the club.
Former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said Rooney asked to leave the Red Devils at the end of last season but Ferguson’s successor David Moyes has insisted publicly that he wants to keep the player.
