Hawthorn midfielder Liam Shiels says he is no doubt to play against Sydney in Saturday’s AFL Grand Final despite nursing a badly broken nose from the Hawks’ tight preliminary final win over Port Adelaide on the weekend.
Shiels suffered the injury at the beginning of the final term in a clash with teammate Luke Hodge and had to leave the field sporting a crooked nose and a black eye.
“I’d love to say I was doing something courageous, but Hodgey just got me with the left hook when he tried to tackle,” Shiels said.
“It (his nose) is busted up … he did a good job with it.”
