Blues legend backs Torres, Ba and Eto’o.
Frank Lampard says Chelsea’s misfiring strikers will come good and has praised Fernando Torres for his performance in the 1-1 draw at Tottenham.
The Blues’ three strikers – Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o – are yet to score a league goals this season, while on loan youngster Romelu Lukaku netted on his debut for Everton.
Boss Jose Mourinho has favoured playing a lone striker this term and currently appears unsure of his preferred option. But the Portuguese praised Torres for his display at White Hart Lane, despite the Spaniard’s late sending off.
Lampard, who has scored over 200 goals for the club, has backed the trio to hit form.
“Goals will come for the strikers, you have phases like that,” the England midfielder said.
“Strikers can’t always be firing goals in but they might have a patch now where they go and score 20 goals between them in the next 10 games.
“It’s an old adage but you don’t care who scores if you win games. The way Fernando played at Spurs with his presence, he will score goals and create goals for others.”
