Chelsea veteran set ton win his 100th Three Lions cap.
England manager Roy Hodgson has pleaded with home supporters to give Chelsea defender Ashley Cole the support he deserves when he takes to the field of play at Wembley on Wednesday for his 100th cap against Brazil.
fanatix tickets – Barclays Premier League tickets are still available for this weekend’s games.
Newcastle vs Chelsea tickets are on sale from £18 for the match at St James Park on Saturday.
The left back will join a select band of players to have represented their country 100 times, and Hodgson feels that the player should be granted a good reception.
“I am expecting people to give him the credit he deserves. If his reputation is this, that or the other, hopefully it will be forgotten on Wednesday.
“Reaching 100 matches is an incredible milestone and he deserves an enormous pat on the back.
“Hopefully he will celebrate his 100 games in the same way Steven Gerrard was able to against Sweden. It goes to show how consistent he is as a performer. He is a two-club man. He is not a player that has flitted from club to club to get a slightly better contract. He has dedicated his time to Arsenal and then Chelsea. I am looking forward to congratulating him.
“I can judge him only over the last nine months. He has been a pleasure to work with and a really good professional. Reputations are forged in different ways but I judge people on how I find them. He is a very serious footballer and a very nice person to deal with. He is a shy person. He prefers his football to do the talking. He is quite happy for people to judge him on his football.
“Unfortunately, with the profile players have, they will be judged in other areas. That doesn’t affect me. Hopefully it won’t affect him on Wednesday.”
