George Bailey has offered to massage Michael Clarke himself in an attempt back to full fitness in time for next year’s World Cup.
Clarke re-injured his troublesome hamstring during Australia’s one-day win over South Africa last Friday at the WACA, and although the damage appears minor, it’s the third time the 33-year-old has suffered hamstring issues since August.
The captain still remains a chance to play in the first Test against India and Bailey jokingly told reporters how desperate he was to play under Clarke at the World Cup.
“I’ll be there to massage him, I’ll get him through. He’ll be right,” Bailey is quoted as saying by AAP.
“It’s big shoes to fill. He’s one of the best batsmen in the world.
“Hopefully whatever Michael’s issues are he can sort them out and come in and have a good run at it.”
