Barcelona’s Javier Mascherano admits Serie A and Benitez attraction.
Barcelona star Javier Mascherano has sparked rumours he could join Napoli by admitting he talks to the Italians’ boss Rafael Benitez almost every day.
Napoli have been linked with a move for the Argentina international, with Barca understood to be willing to sell Mascherano for as little as €6m (£5.12m).
Mascherano, 29, played under Benitez for four years at Liverpool and said he still has a strong relationship with the Spaniard, who joined Napoli this summer.
“I have a great admiration for Benitez. I’ll talk to him often, almost every day,” Mascherano is quoted as saying by CalcioMercato.
The defensive midfielder also said he was a fan of the Serie A.
“I like the Serie A but for now I’m a Barcelona player,” added the former Boca Juniors star.
