Roma’s Gervinho fancies himself if the pair had a ball at their feet.
Clearly impressing with AS Roma has gone to ex-Arsenal star Gervinho’s head as the forward claims he could beat Usain Bolt in a race.
Whilst the Ivory Coast international admits the six-time Olympic gold medalist would probably win a straight 100m stretch, with a ball at their feet the 26-year-old fancies himself.
“I would beat him [Bolt] with the ball at my feet. Without the ball, he would be quicker,” Gervinho was quoted by Goal.
Of course the attacker said this with his tongue firmly in his cheek, but the African is clearly in high spirits and it’s easy to see why after some brilliant performances in the Italian capital.
Gervinho netted a brace in Roma’s 3-2 Coppa Italia semi-final first leg win over Serie A rivals Napoli on Wednesday night.
Despite showing glimpses of talent at the Emirates Stadium, the Ivorian never really settled with the Gunners and was sold for £8m in the summer of 2013.
Since arriving at the Stadio Olimpico Gervinho has looked good under the guidance of Rudi Garcia however and has scored eight goals and provided seven assists in 20 appearances in all competitions.
