Just what did we learn in week one of the AFL Finals?
A step too far for Richmond
It was a remarkable story.
3-10 no more than a couple of months ago, the Tigers’ nine-straight wins put them in back-to-back finals series.
But like all good novels, the narrative required an ending.
The Tigers were beaten from pillar-to-post on Sunday by a rampant Port Adelaide outfit who destroyed the Damien Hardwick’s side in every facet of the game.
Cotchin’s decision to kick against the wind was a poor one in hindsight, but to blame the loss on the direction of a breeze is ridiculously simplistic.
Port’s home support was nothing short of superb, and the Tigers just ran out of gas.
