They didn’t make it easy for themselves, but they had enough to see the job through in order to keep up on the promise made by Arsene Wenger to build on last season’s FA Cup win. Below are five lessons that the club learnt from their latest foray into Europe’s most elite club competition.
5. Wenger can cope with the pressure
There is a sense that Arsenal may have let that slip last season. With the pressure growing on Wenger to spend on fresh talent and put an end to their trophy drought, the club could quite easily have taken an early tumble. However, the pressure is arguably greater this time around as he has to do it again after giving fans a taste of success. Furthermore, after spending big on some new names, he really couldn’t do with missing out, and they withstood some heavy pressure as they kept the Turks at bay.
