2. Summer signings struggles
Given the slow progress of Spurs’ new stadium, it’s safe to assume the club won’t have £100m to spend in a summer again for the foreseeable future, which makes it all the more frustrating that the money was squandered this summer. Club record signing Erik Lamela has barely played and, in all likelihood, will return to Italy in the summer at a loss, while Paulinho and Etienne Capoue are also likely to leave in the next transfer window. Roberto Soldado remains committed to the cause but has been dreadful, while Nacer Chadli has done little to suggest he has a future at the club. Christian Eriksen and Vlad Chiriches have been the exceptions, but it still looks like £80m down the pan for Spurs.
