Arsenal have come up with a new major transfer target, and they are expected to become the frontrunners to land William Carvalho.
The Gunners are said to be lining up a deal for Carvalho to move to the Emirates for £19.8m, according to The Telegraph.
The Sporting Lisbon midfielder has been pursued by both Arsenal and Manchester United.
The Gunners are expected to not hold back in their pursuit, as boss Arsene Wenger is very keen on signing him.
The 23-year-old Portuguese international was recently crowned the best player at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
However, Portugal ultimately fell in the tournament as they lost in the final to Sweden on penalty kicks.
Carvalho’s defensive prowess helped Portugal not concede a single goal in normal time in the tournament, with the exception of a group stage 1-1 tie against Sweden.
He is a genuine powerhouse – exactly what Arsenal need.
