The former Everton man is glad he chose Old Trafford.
Manchester United’s only major signing this summer was the £27.5m arrival of Marouane Fellaini from Everton, although Arsenal were the first team interested in the midfielder.
After a lot of speculation concerning whether or not the Gunners had made an approach for Fellaini, the Belgian has now revealed that the star turned down north London for the Premier League champions.
“I knew United were interested in signing me – just as Arsenal were,” the 25-year-old was quoted by the Sun.
“But it was United who snapped me up. David Moyes did everything to get me. I leapt at the chance to work with Moyes.
“We may not be top of the league but we are not far off.”
Fellaini has hardly excelled since arriving at United and has been strongly criticised for what has been perceived as poor performances.
With the Red Devils also struggling in the English top tier there could well be an opinion that the Belgium international made the wrong choice – especially as the Gunners currently top the league after a great start to the season.
However, Arsene Wenger’s side now face a tough run-in of fixtures that includes Chelsea in the League Cup, Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League and United and Liverpool in the league.
These four matches could well test the steel of Wenger’s men and a win for Fellaini’s side in their game could well see the balance tip slightly back towards Manchester again.
