Thiago could be swayed by his family in coming to England.
Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara could be convinced to make his proposed transfer to Manchester United with his father believing it is the right move, according to the Mirror.
The Spain under-21 captain has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford for some time and with the player’s younger brother Rafinha also likely to head to the Premier League, Thiago is being influenced by his family.
Rafinha, also on Barca’s books, will be sent out on a season-long loan in 2013/14 and Everton are hopeful they can secure the services of the young Spaniard.
Therefore the talented siblings’ father – former Brazil international Mazinho – thinks that it would be fitting if Thiago were also to swap Catalonia for England.
In a midfield set-up at the Nou Camp that includes Xavi, Cesc Fabregas, Sergio Busquets and Andres Iniesta, the 22-year-old is finding it hard to earn himself a regular starting position, whereas at Old Trafford the central midfielder is likely to be given more opportunities.
Thiago would also be available to United for just £15m, significantly lower than what would usually be demanded for a youngster of his calibre, due to the fact the Spaniard has failed to play 60% of Barca’s matches in 2012/13.
A clause in the midfielder’s contract stipulates that by playing less than that quota for the Catalans he is free to leave the club for a lower price in search of first team football.
With the Red Devils wanting to strengthen in midfield following the retirement of Paul Scholes, Thiago has been targeted as the ideal signing for all involved.
