Toffees keen to re-sign centre-back.
Everton want to re-sign Manchester City centre-half Joleon Lescott on loan in January, fanatix has learnt.
Lescott left Goodison Park for mega-rich City for £22m in 2009 and has won the Premier League and FA Cup, as well as becoming an England regular, during his spell at Eastlands.
But the 30-year-old, who was a mainstay in City’s Premier League title-winning team last season, has found himself sidelined this term, with teenager Matija Nastasic preferred alongside Vincent Kompany at centre-half.
Lescott has even slipped behind the ageing Kolo Toure in the pecking order and was left on the bench when Kompany limped off in Sunday’s 3-2 Manchester derby defeat at the Etihad.
Everton boss David Moyes hinted last week that he would welcome Lescott back to Merseyside and the Scot is ready to launch an audacious loan bid for his former charge in January.
City, however, are understood to be unwilling to allow Lescott to leave the club midseason and Everton’s only hope of securing a six-month deal will be if the player demands to leave Manchester.
The Champions, meanwhile, remain hopeful of landing Daniele De Rossi from Roma. The Italian is comfortable at both defensive midfield and centre-half.
