Fellaini seems to be edging nearer to a switch to Old Trafford.
Marouane Fellaini has handed in a transfer request at current club Everton to try and force a move to Manchester United before the window shuts, reports ITV.
The Red Devils have been in pursuit of the Belgium international for much of the summer and have already had two bids for the midfielder turned down.
Fellaini is the Toffees’ club record signing, when current United manager David Moyes signed the 25-year-old from Standard Liege for £15m in 2008.
In five years at Goodison Park the Belgian has grown in reputation due to consistently impressive performances for the club and was the side’s top-scorer last season.
Along with team-mate Leighton Baines, Fellaini was one of two players that Moyes signed that the Scot wanted to bring with the 50-year-old when the boss took over from Sir Alex Ferguson at the Theatre of Dreams.
It’s thought United will have to pay somewhere in the region of £25m to tempt the Merseyside outfit into selling one of their most prized assets, although it’s unknown if the Premier League champions are going to continue their pursuit of Baines.
The English league holders have struggled in midfield this campaign due to the retirement of Paul Scholes and as a box-to-box player, Fellaini should some much needed creativity to the team.
The Belgian has played 177 matches for Everton in all competitions, scoring 33 goals and providing 26 assists – although also has a tendency to pick up yellow cards and has been given 45 whilst at the club.
