The 27 year old Venezuelan defender is reportedly close to agreeing terms with the Goodison Park club and is set to complete a switch to the Premier League.
Amorebieta is a product of the Bilbao youth system with many believing the player may spend his entire career with the Basque club.
But the La Liga side are going through a period of transition currently which has upset many within the dressing room, promoting Amorebieta to consider a move.
Javi Martinez moved to Bayern Munich in the summer and the departure of Fernando LLorente to Juventus was confirmed in recent days prompting many to question the club’s ambition.
In a desperate attempt to persuade the player, who has made 200 La Liga appearances for the side, to stay, Bilbao have offered Amorebieta a new contract worth £8.5 million over five years but it is thought the player will turn down the offer and join up with David Moyes’ men.
The player holds dual nationality, also holding a Spanish passport, meaning there is no need for a time-consuming visa application that would normally be required for a player from South America.
