Toffees join Premier League rivals in hunt for powerful forward.
Everton are the latest Premier League club to show an interest in Marseille striker Loic Remy, according to Italian source TuttoMercato.
The Frenchman has previously been linked with moves to Tottenham, Chelsea and Newcastle after finishing as L’Om’s top scorer last season.
But the hulking 26-year-old has seen his opportunities limited under new Marseille boss Elie Baup and is seeking a move away from the Ligue 1 club in January.
Everton have not struggled for goals this season, bagging 27 in 16 league games so far, with Marouane Fellaini and Nikica Jelavic in fine form.
But boss David Moyes will be eyeing attacking additions in the transfer window as the Toffees look to build on their good start to mount a serious assault on the Premier League top four.
It is understood that Marseille will accept offer in the region of £8m for Remy, who scored more headed goals in Europe than anyone else last season, so Moyes must hope that chairman Bill Kenwright will make funds available in the new year.
Spurs and Newcastle are both understood to retain an interest in Remy, meaning Everton could face competition for the France international’s signature.
