Visitors take a stranglehold on proceedings in the lead-up to lunch.
New Zealand are well in control of the first Test match against England after the home side continued their struggles with the bat to be 209-8 at lunch on day two.
The Kiwis did not bowl particularly well in the first hour, but in the lead-up lunch they ran through the England lower-order.
In the 96th over Tim Southee dismissed Joe Root for an innings high total of 40, after he nicked the ball down the leg-side which was gladly taken by BJ Watling to leave England at 192-5.
Southee was then on a hat-trick as Matt Prior was trapped in front by a god ball first up that went with the slope at Lords.
After consulatation, Prior indicated he wanted the decision checked and replays showed the ball hitting him on the knee-roll during a half-hearted push forward
However, Hawk Eye showed the ball would have hit the top of leg-stump and the umpire’s decision stood as Southee claimed two wickets as many balls as England slumped to 192-6.
Stuart Broad was the man to face the fateful ball as he was soon surrounded by fielders, but the delivery was well wide of the off-stump.
Neil Wagner then trapped Broad in front on a ball that was full and straight with the English tail-ender playing down the wrong line to be out for a duck, as England slumped slid to be 195-7.
Wagner then claimed the scalp of Graeme Swann who was forced to play and got a thin edge through to Watling who gleefully accepted a straightforward chance to make it 201-8 with four wickets falling in as many overs.
Jonny Bairstow (29no) survived the carnage to be the last recognised batsman left for England and he will resume his innings after lunch with Steve Finn (2no).
New Zealand continue to share the spoils with the ball but Wagner was the pick of the bunch in the first session as he took his figures for the match to 3-70 off 28 overs.
