Red Devils and their coveted attacker are still at loggerheads.
Manchester United will tell Wayne Rooney that he must hand in a written transfer request if he still wishes to push through his controversial move away from Old Trafford this summer, reports the Daily Mail.
The unsettled England international has been the subject of much speculation of late linking the 27-year-old with a move away from the north west when the transfer window reopened at the start of this month.
The centre forward had reportedly asked to leave the Red Devils towards the back-end of last season, a claim that the player himself strongly denies, however, after a campaign in which Rooney netted just 16 goals in his 36 matches in all competitions for the club, a parting of the ways has appeared to be very much on the cards this summer.
So far Arsenal are believed to have been the only club to have made an inquiry about the attacker, who still has two years left to run on his current contract with the Premier League champions, but as yet we are still no closer to determining just which club Rooney will be representing next season.
