Los Blancos want Liverpool star to replace Napoli-bound Gonzalo Higuain.
Real Madrid are set to launch a bid for Liverpool’s Luis Suarez after agreeing to sell Gonzalo Higuain to Napoli, reports Spanish daily AS.
The news comes as a double blow to Arsenal, who have lodged official bids for both strikers this summer.
Higuain, 25, is expected to complete a €37m (£31.77m) move to Napoli this week after Los Blancos agreed a fee with the Italians, who have money to spend after selling Suarez’s Uruguay international teammate Edinson Cavani to PSG for £54m.
Suarez joined up with the Liverpool squad for training on Sunday and took part in training with the rest of the squad yesterday.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has reiterated his desire to keep the Uruguayan but it is understood the Anfield club will sell for the right price and would prefer Suarez to move abroad, rather than to Arsenal.
Real have turned their attentions to the 26-year-old former Ajax striker after Zlatan Ibrahimovic confirmed his intention to stay at PSG.
